Welcome to Teaching and Learning TODAY. We hope routines have been established and all is running smoothly for you as we get further into the fall season and your best year yet! Teaching and Learning has many opportunities for growth to offer, but we also invite you to be a part of the change that needs to happen. Monitor this newsletter regularly and respond to those areas that interest you. We facilitate the development of professional learning by members, for members. With students experiencing heightened levels of anxiety and trauma, educators in rural communities are advocating for more services and programs. “If we don’t give them the help they need, many are not going to make it.” Check out the cover story from NEA, Rural Schools Take on the Mental Health Crisis.

Teacher shortages are a serious issue across the country. Here in Virginia, there are currently over 3,648 unfilled teaching positions. (FY23)
